Residents and motorists are advised that the Apex Park Road bridge, which connects the popular Apex Park facility to the Murray Valley Highway, is closed after a failure of the bridge structure which occurred on 19 July 2023.

Gannawarra Shire Council, which maintains the bridge, is investigating what caused the bridge failure.

“The Apex Park Road bridge is one of over 60 bridge structures we maintain, with many of these structures impacted by the October-December 2022 floods,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

“Council has spent the past few years seeking funding to enable this key bridge to be replaced as it provides the only road access to Apex Park at Reedy Lake.”

Whilst the bridge is closed, vehicles will not be able to access Apex Park at Reedy Lake. This includes the barbecue area and campsite.

“Reedy Lake is a popular location for tourists to visit during their travels through the Gannawarra, with many families enjoying spending time at Apex Park and keeping cool during summer,” Mr Rollinson said.

“Council thanks motorists and residents for their understanding whilst we work to replace the bridge, with a timeframe to be announced once confirmed.”

Council will keep residents updated via its website and Facebook page, as well as its Gannawarra News and Gannawarra Connect publications.
