Applications to join Gannawarra Shire Council’s team of Outdoor Pool Lifeguards for the 2024/25 swimming pool season are now open.

The team will oversee operations at the Council-managed Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools for the 2024/25 season, which will run from 11 November 2024 to 10 March 2025.

“Being an Outdoor Swimming Pool Lifeguard is a great role, no matter what age you are,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

“Not only is being a lifeguard a great way to enjoy our summer weather, it is a role that provides the opportunity to meet new people and develop your skills.”

Applications are open to anyone aged 16 years and over, with Life Saving Victoria Lifeguard training, first aid training and accreditation provided free of charge.

“Our flexible rosters mean that you can work and still have time to enjoy your summer, with shifts covering weekdays, evenings and weekends,” Mr Rollinson said.

“Having a large group of lifeguards means that we can keep swimming pools open throughout the season, which benefits the thousands of people who visit these locations to socialise or for fitness purposes each season.

“We are also looking for lifeguards who would be available between January and mid-March to address staff shortages towards the end of the swimming pool season.”

For more information or to apply, please visit www.gsc.vic.gov.au/jobs. People who would like to be considered for employment by the start of the season need to have their applications submitted by Monday, 19 August 2024.
