Primary school children are encouraged to enter the Gannawarra Library Service’s Big Summer Read program.

The initiative, supported by Public Libraries Victoria, runs through to Monday, 31 January 2022 and aims to keep children engaged in reading during the summer school holidays.

Three lucky children will win gift cards worth $100 that can be redeemed at stores such as Toy World and Smiggle.

“With the summer holidays underway, now is a great time for families to explore the Gannawarra Library Service’s collection of books and register for this popular program,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Although the program has been running since the start of December, there is still time for children to register and be in the running to win the great prizes on offer.”

To participate, children need to register online at the Beanstack website at https://plv.beanstack.org.

“All books read during the program can be recorded via the Beanstack website or by downloading the Beanstack app, which is available from the Apple App or Google Play stores,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“Families who need assistance with registering or recording the books read are encouraged to contact their local Gannawarra Library Service branch.

“The more you read, the more chances you have to win!”

Adding to the fun, families are also encouraged to visit the Cohuna Library on Monday, 10 January between 11am and 3pm, and Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on Thursday, 13 January between 11am and 3pm to complete some of the Big Summer Read’s challenges and gain a bonus entry into the prize draw.
