Building community resilience
Published on 20 May 2020
Community leaders throughout the Gannawarra looking for inspiration regarding building resilience at this time are encouraged to access a new Rural Aid resource.
The Community Builders Series of free webinars focuses on community building and resilience by bringing fresh ideas to help support your community.
Featuring Peter Kenyon from international community and economic development consultancy firm, Bank of I.D.E.A.S., each forum includes a presentation from community and business leaders that help inspire people to prepare for the post-COVID-19 world.
“Topics that have been discussed since the program began earlier this month include what makes a town great, building good businesses in small towns and the role tourism will play in a post-COVID-19 world,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“Sessions occurring in the coming weeks will look at the role leadership plays in developing resilient communities, finding your community asset base and available grants.”
Sessions occur every Tuesday at 10am, with attendances limited to 500 people.
“Residents who cannot take part in the webinar live can access previous notes, videos and presentations at any time,” Mayor Learmonth said.
Rural Aid is a partner on the Gannawarra Community Resilience Committee - a group of agencies that work together to build resilience across Gannawarra communities.
