Previous changes to Gannawarra Shire Council services initiated as part of the current COVID-19 lockdown will remain in place after the State Government’s announcement today.

“In compliance with the current State Government directions, there will be a delay to the reopening of various services and Council will continue to take a proactive approach to ensure staff and residents are protected from the potential spread of COVID-19,” said Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly.

“Council appreciates the continued patience of residents and urges all residents to ensure COVID-Safe practices are implemented; especially to support the health and safety of the residents that are more vulnerable.”

The following Council services will remain impacted by the State government lockdown restrictions:

  • The continued closure of Gannawarra Library Service branches at Cohuna, Kerang, Leitchville, and Quambatook – with a ‘click and collect service available;
  • The continued closure of the Kerang Exercise Pool, with Warra Waders swimming lessons cancelled;
  • The continued closure of the Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre;
  • The continued cancellation of any facility bookings during this time;
  • The cancellation of Social Meals sessions planned during the lockdown period;
  • The continued cancellation of the L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program

“Please note that during this time, a majority of current lockdown restrictions will remain in place with residents only to leave their home for one of five reasons. These are to shop for food and supplies; authorised work reasons; care and caregiving; exercise for up three hours, or receiving a vaccination,” Mr. O’Reilly said.

“However, from 11:59 pm on Thursday, 2 September, residents under the age of 12 will once again be able to use playground equipment. Note, QR codes will be in place at these facilities, and it is a requirement to check-in when using these outdoor facilities.”

“Face coverings must still be carried at all times and must be worn indoors and outdoors except within your own home, or if an exemption applies.”
