Celebrations will be held throughout the Gannawarra on Sunday, 26 January to mark Australia Day.

Gannawarra Shire Council is supporting community groups hosting celebrations at Barham/Koondrook, Cohuna, Kerang, Lake Charm, Leitchville, Murrabit and Quambatook, with funding to be provided to event hosts to make these festivities possible.

“Australia Day is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to the area during the Australia Day long weekend to come together and celebrate,” Mayor Garner Smith said.

Celebrations will include a breakfast or barbecue dinner, depending on the time of day, a flag raising ceremony and recognition of community award winners.

Council’s 2025 Citizen of the Year and Young Person of the Year will also be recognised at their local celebration, with a Civic Reception announcing the winners of these prestigious accolades occurring on Wednesday, 22 January from 6.30pm.
