Celebrate Library Lovers Day at your local library
Published on 10 February 2020
Residents are encouraged to “uncover something new” as part of the Gannawarra Library Service’s Library Lovers Day on Friday, 14 February.
Organised by the Australian Library and Information Association, the Gannawarra Library Service will join hundreds of libraries nationally as part of the annual event.
“Library Lovers Day is an opportunity for libraries, such as our wonderful branches managed by the Gannawarra Library Service, to show off their facilities and for people to show their love for their local library,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“Whether it is browsing the variety of books, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines and newspapers on offer or utilising digital services such as computer or free Wi-Fi, there is something on offer for all interests at our libraries.”
Every person who borrows a book on the day will be given a heart chocolate, made by a Kerang-based chocolatier, with those more adventurous encouraged to have a “blind date” with a mystery book.
“Visitors to Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library, the Cohuna Library and the Quambatook Community Resource Centre will have the opportunity to select an unidentifiable book that is tagged with intriguing clues alluding to the book inside,” Mayor Learmonth said.
“I encourage as many residents as possible who have not visited any of the Gannawarra Library Services’ branches recently to head to your local library on Friday and uncover something new.”
