Residents who have their pets registered with Gannawarra Shire Council are encouraged to check their pet’s details are correct in readiness for the distribution of animal registration renewal notices.
Annual animal registration renewal notices will be distributed in the next 4-6 weeks, with pet owners encouraged to let Council know if their details or their pet’s details have changed during the last 12 months.
“Having your and your pet’s correct details on Council’s records means that our dedicated Local Laws team members can reunite you with your dog or cat if they are lost,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
As outlined in the Domestic Animals Act 1994, all dogs and cats over three months of age must be registered with their local Council and microchipped.
“Animal registration fees cover Council’s pound expenses and support key domestic animal-related services, including reuniting lost cats and dogs that are registered and microchipped with their loved ones,” Mr Rollinson said.
“Reduced registration fees are applicable for pets aged over 10 years; dogs kept for working stock; animals that are registered with an Applicable Organisation; and animals that are desexed.”
If you or your pet’s details have changed during the last 12 months, please let Council know by phoning (03) 5450 9333.
