Future development of the Cohuna Recreation Reserve will be guided by a masterplan developed in partnership with user groups and the community.

Adopted at Gannawarra Shire Council’s July 2022 Council Meeting, the Cohuna Recreation Reserve Masterplan outlines transformational infrastructure upgrades to benefit current and future users.

“Home to a football and netball club, cricket club, Little Athletics centre, bowls club, tennis club, the Cohuna Swimming Pool and the Cohuna and District Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Society, the Cohuna Recreation Reserve services the community all year round,” Mayor Charlie Gillingham said.

“Council has worked with these groups and the community to develop this masterplan, which explores best practice both in provision of accessible infrastructure whilst considering the reserve’s point of difference compared to other reserves in the Gannawarra due to its proximity to Gunbower Creek.”

The masterplan features 23 actions, split into priority areas, that seek to modernise and enhance the reserve in line with works at Apex Park and Garden Park.

“All of the improvements and aspirations outlined in the Cohuna Recreation Reserve Masterplan will require external funding from other levels of government and sporting bodies, with support from user groups and Council,” Mayor Gillingham said.

“Council thanks all who were involved in developing the Cohuna Recreation Reserve Masterplan and looks forward to working with user groups to see these actions come to fruition.”
