Residents are advised that the Cohuna Recreation Reserve’s building facilities and amenities are currently closed following the Department of Health declaring the reserve a Tier 2 COVID-19 site.

This classification resulted from a case who tested positive to COVID-19 following their attendance at the Cohuna Football and Netball Club, Cohuna Recreation Reserve, Island Road, Cohuna on Saturday, 22 May between 12 noon and 5pm. This case watched multiple netball games, visited the canteen (inside) and used outdoor public toilets.

“Council is awaiting further advice from the Department of Health in relation to the requirements of managing a COVID-19 exposure site,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

Anyone who was in attendance between 12 noon and 5pm on Saturday, 22 May is strongly encouraged to urgently get tested and isolate until a negative result is received. Attendees during this time are also required to phone the Department of Health on 1300 651 160.

“There is an RV Park located within the Cohuna Recreation Reserve and any visitors who may have visited the Cohuna Football and Netball Club, Cohuna Recreation Reserve event during the identified timeframe are strongly encouraged to get tested,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“Northern District Community Health has set up a COVID-19 testing site at 33 King Edward Street, Cohuna, where residents can attend for a COVID-19 test on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 May from 9am. No bookings are necessary.

“As a result of the Tier 2 exposure site advice, Council is closely monitoring service impacts and at this stage the Leitchville Pre School is closed Thursday, 27 May and Friday, 28 May. Council will continue to monitor the State Government announcements and provide updates on any changes to our services, should any other impacts be identified.”
