Works to connect the Cohuna CBD to Gunbower Creek will begin in early 2022 after Gannawarra Shire Council awarded the tender for the second stage of the Cohuna Waterfront Development.
CJ & BT McLoughlan will oversee the project, supported by the Federal Government’s Regional Growth Fund after Council awarded the successful tender at the October 2021 Council Meeting.
“Cohuna residents and visitors are benefiting from the first stage of this important development, which has transformed Apex Park into a tourism attraction,” Mayor Charlie Gillingham said.
“Stage two will aim to do the same to the Cohuna CBD and Garden Park, with the development to inspire further commercial and liveability opportunities for both residents and visitors.”
The development, which forms part of the $3.4 million Cohuna CBD and Waterfront Connections Project, will include the construction of a deck pontoon on the banks of Gunbower Creek, dedicated outdoor dining areas either side of the King George Street pedestrian crossing and a seated area at the intersection of King George and Sampson streets.
“Council thanks all residents who took part in the extensive and collaborative community engagement process to determine the development’s design,” Mayor Gillingham said.
Council will keep residents updated regarding the Cohuna Waterfront Development – Stage 2 via its website, Facebook page, Gannawarra News and Gannawarra Connect.
