Gannawarra Shire Council has released the results of the independent 2019 Customer Satisfaction Survey.

Conducted in February, the independent survey involved seeking feedback from 400 residents over the age of 18, with questions conducted during phone interviews relating to Council’s performance on a range of matters.

“The main objectives of the survey are to assess the performance of councils across a range of measures and to seek insight into the ways to provide improved or more efficient service delivery,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

“The survey also provides councils with a means to fulfil some statutory reporting requirements.”

Council’s overall performance rated an average index score of 59, compared to the average index score of 58 for councils in the Small Rural group and an average index score of 60 for the State-wide average.

The survey also rated Council on six other core performance measures. Council’s performance in Community Consultation, Sealed Local Roads and Customer Service increased compared to the results of the 2018 survey, whilst Advocacy, Making Community Decisions and Overall Council Direction declined.

“These results show that although Council is meeting community expectations in key service areas, focus will continue to be placed on advocating on major issues that impact on the community,” Mayor Learmonth said.

“Advocating in the best interests of our community and regions is one of the strategies outlined in the Gannawarra Shire Council Plan 2017-2021, and the adoption of Council’s Advocacy Strategy in late 2018 is one step to address this matter.”
