COUNCIL HOSTS RICHMOND FOOTBALL CLUB

Media Release

Gannawarra Shire Council facilitated a lunch for the Richmond Football Club players and officials when they visited the area yesterday.

Mayor Brian Gibson said Council was excited to welcome six players plus staff, including Assistant Coach Blake Caracella to Kerang yesterday, who were travelling the area as part of their 2017 Australian Post AFL Community Camps.

“The players and staff enjoyed lunch at the Council Chambers and had the opportunity to mingle with local football club presidents followed by signing and photo opportunities with community members and some excited tigers fans outside of the post office” Mayor Gibson said.

“The players and staff then went and visited local schools and aged care residencies before continuing on to Swan Hill,” Mayor Gibson explained.

The Richmond Football Club has a strong connection with the region since the inception of the Richmond Academy, and the Community Camps provide the perfect opportunity for players to engage and connect with fans and supporters in regional communities.

“Victoria Street had a real buzz about it on Monday and it was fantastic to see local Tiger fans come out to catch a photo with their favourite players.”

“Council hopes Richmond Football Club enjoyed their time in Gannawarra Shire and we look forward to welcoming them back soon,” Mayor Gibson said.
