The release of Council’s 2023/2024 Proposed Budget for community feedback was the highlight of Gannawarra Shire Council’s April 2023 meeting, held at the Kerang Senior Citizens Centre on 19 April 2023.

Residents can view the 2023/2024 Proposed Budget online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/budget or at Council’s Customer Service Centres at Cohuna and Kerang from Thursday, 20 April, with feedback accepted up to 5pm Friday, 26 May.

Key features of the 2023/2024 Proposed Budget include a record $38.441 million investment in capital works – including $25 million dedicated to repairs to flood-damaged infrastructure - and an increase in revenue raised through municipal rates revenue that complies with the State Government’s Fair Go Rates System.

Other outcomes of the meeting included:

  • Receival of the annual review into the Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025 and adoption of the revised Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-2025;
  • The delegating of powers, duties and functions to Council staff holding, acting in or performing the duties of the officers or positions referred to in the Instrument of Delegation to members of Council staff; and
  • Tabling of the Arbiter’s decision and statement of reasons on the matter of an application by Council concerning Cr Garner Smith.
