Like many businesses across Victoria, Gannawarra Shire Council is impacted by staff availability during the current COVID-19 situation.

Despite these impacts, Council reassures the community that essential services will continue to be maintained now and into the future.

“At this stage, Council can provide an assurance that adequate staffing levels remain in place and the community will see little change in the level of service,” Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Some areas of Council are being impacted more than others by staff shortages and some minor changes are required so that the community can continue to enjoy quality and consistent service levels.”

Residents are advised that the following changes to Council’s services will come into effect from Monday, 24 January:

  • The postponement of the 2022 Social Meals program, with the program on hold until further notice.
  • The L2P Driver Education program will offer only professional driving lessons until further notice.

The Kerang and Cohuna swimming pools will operate as follows for the remainder of the outdoor pool season, with the following changes in place:

Monday, 24 January to Monday, 31 January

Open 1pm–8pm daily (12 noon–8pm Australia Day, Wednesday, 26 January)

Waterslide available 1pm-5pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Tuesday, 1 February to Monday, 28 February

Open 2pm-7pm daily

Waterslide available 3pm–6pm Friday and Sunday

Tuesday, 1 March to Sunday, 13 March

Open 3pm-7pm daily

No waterslide available

“Learn to swim activities, swim club and school programs have been prioritised with the slight change to service hours ensuring that Kerang and Cohuna swimming pools can both open to the public during the hours pools are most utilised by the community,” Mr O’Reilly said.

All other Council services continue to operate as usual, with any further changes to be advised.

“Council, like other businesses, continues to operate in a challenging environment and thanks the community for its understanding at this time,” Mr O’Reilly said.
