Council to host Disability and Carers Expo
Published on 13 March 2020
UPDATE (16 March, 12:40PM): In light of the evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation, the Disability & Carers Expo, scheduled to occur on Friday, March 27, 2020, has been cancelled.
This decision was made after careful consideration for the health and safety of the general public and all providers involved
Anyone looking for disability or carer support and services that operate within the Gannawarra are encouraged to attend this year’s Disability and Carers Expo.
Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural expo, this Gannawarra Shire Council-organised event will be held at the Kerang Memorial Hall on Friday, 27 March from 11am to 2pm.
“Council is proud to be hosting this free community event, which will enable residents and service providers to meet in the one place,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“Gathering information regarding services can be a difficult task, but the Disability and Carers Expo enables people living with a disability and carers of all ages to have the opportunity to meet face-to-face and discuss what support and services are available.
“National Disability Insurance Scheme participants and families looking for plan assistance and support are also encouraged to attend.”
Close to 20 providers will be in attendance on the day, specialising in fields such as physio, occupational and speech therapists, psychologists, daily life skills, community access and respite support.
“Thank you to all providers that have committed to take part in the Disability and Carers Expo,” Mayor Learmonth said.
“I encourage people living with a disability, carers, families and other interested community members to come along and find out more about the services and supports available.”
