Community groups and organisations are encouraged to prepare now in readiness for the opening of Gannawarra Shire Council’s 2025 Community Grants Program.

Applications for the program will open at 9am Thursday, 1 May and will be accepted up to midnight Thursday, 29 May.

“For many years, community groups that support the Gannawarra’s residents have benefited from Council’s Community Grants Program, which provides funding to local events, facility improvements and projects that foster social connections,” Mayor Garner Smith said.

“Successful projects need to meet the Essential Criteria, align with the community vision outlined in the Growing Gannawarra – 2021-2025 Council Plan and must be delivered within 12 months of receiving the funding.”

As part of the program, community groups will be able to apply for up to $5,000 to support projects, programs, events and activities.

Groups considering applying for funding are encouraged to read the program’s guidelines, which are available online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/grants and from Council’s Customer Service Centres at Cohuna and Kerang.

Council’s grants website, www.gsc.vic.gov.au/grants also features advice on how to craft an application, obtain supporting information such as letters of support and quotes, guidance on completing a budget and advice on what assessors may look for when it comes to a successful application.

“Community groups are encouraged to start planning their projects prior to the program opening date to ensure that they have the best opportunity to benefit from the Community Grants program,” Mayor Smith said.
