Council's annual road resealing program begins next week

Council will soon begin an extensive program of road resealing works across the Gannawarra Shire.
Occurring as part of Council’s annual capital works program, the works will focus on various roads throughout the municipality, specifically rural roads near Cohuna, Lalbert, Leitchville, Koondrook, Murrabit and Quambatook.
“Council is responsible for maintaining around 500 kilometres of sealed roads throughout the Gannawarra, with the majority of these in our townships,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“Resealing our roads regularly prevents moisture from entering the foundation level, which is a common cause of potholes. These works also extend the lifetime of our sealed roads, thus reducing maintenance costs.”
Work will be planned to keep disruptions to a minimum; however residents can expect short delays when sections of road are reduced to one lane or closed for up to 15 minutes if required.
“Council thanks residents and motorists for their understanding as these works are completed,” Mr Rollinson said.
Residents are reminded that any concerns regarding local highways or main roads identified with green signage with a gold C2## prefix should be reported to Regional Roads Victoria on 133 778.
