Customer safety comes first

Gannawarra Shire Council will ensure the safety of customers and staff when reopening facilities and services that have been closed to stop the spread of Coronavirus.
Council’s Customer Service Centres and Kerang Exercise Pool, as well as Gannawarra Library Service branches, have been closed since late March as Council enacted on State and Federal government measures that have successfully reduced the number of active cases of COVID-19.
Other initiatives, including Social Meals, the L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program and Gannawarra Non-Emergency Transport Service, have been postponed to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers and participants.
“Although the State Government has announced that community facilities can open with a maximum number of 20 people per space, Council needs to ensure the safety of the public and staff when opening venues such as our library branches, Customer Service Centres and the Kerang Exercise Pool,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“Work is underway to put in place relevant social distancing measures at our Customer Service Centres and libraries, including the installation of protective screens at counters in preparation for future reopening of these services.”
Council will continue to keep residents updated regarding changes to its services at this time through its website, www.gsc.vic.gov.au, as well as via its social media accounts, including Facebook (www.facebook.com/gannawarra).
“Council looks forward to welcoming the public back to these venues and to our popular services once measures to protect the safety of customers and staff are effectively in place,” Mr O’Reilly said.
