EFTPOS available at transfer stations
Published on 23 April 2020
Gannawarra Shire Council’s transfer stations at Cohuna and Kerang can now accept payments via EFTPOS.
Council trialled the acceptance of payments via EFTPOS earlier this month, with the technology to be rolled out at its two largest waste transfer facilities permanently.
“Council’s transfer stations at Cohuna and Kerang are well frequented by residents looking to dispose of materials in a safe manner,” Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“Household types and quantities of recyclables are accepted free of charge at these locations, however fees are charged for some materials to cover costs associated with appropriate disposal of these waste items."
The trialling of the use of EFTPOS payment at the Cohuna and Kerang transfer stations coincided with the implementation of social distancing measures put in place to stop the spread of Coronavirus.
“We will continue to look at innovative ways to make dealing with Council easier, especially during these unique times,” Mr O’Reilly said.
As well as the transfer stations at Chuggs Road, Cohuna and Kerang-Murrabit Road, Kerang, Council also operates sites at Lalbert and Quambatook.
