Funding available for Easter, April events and activities
Published on 13 February 2024
Community groups, organisations and local live music venues planning to host events, programs and activities over the Easter long weekend or April holiday period are eligible to apply for funding.
The Gannawarra Community Resilience Committee is offering financial support for events and activities as part of the recovery from the 2022 floods and 2023/2024 storm and flash flooding events.
Eligible groups are able to apply for up to $5,000 to support new and existing events, programs and activities which support the social connection of Gannawarra residents and a unique point of difference to attract visitors to the Gannawarra over the upcoming holiday periods.
“Council is pleased to be able to offer financial assistance to support our community to connect and enjoy time together over the upcoming Easter and April holiday period,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“Some examples of events and activities may include live music at local venues, children and family entertainment, community barbecues, pop-up art, or school holiday programs.”
The current round of funding is supported by the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments under the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) as part of the Gannawarra Community Flood Recovery Program.
To assist in confirming arrangements, applications will be assessed as they are received but must be made by Thursday, 29 February.
“Council assistance is available to help support community with ideas to ensure that a vibrant calendar of events is in place for the influx of visitors to Gannawarra over the Easter period and for what is traditionally a special time of the year for our residents,” Mr Rollinson said.
