Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre to reopen 21 September

Cohuna’s Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre will reopen to the public for tourism and community queries from Monday, 21 September.

Closed to the public since early August following the reintroduction of Victorian Government Stage 3 COVID-19 restrictions, the Gannawarra’s major tourism information centre will be open from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday until further notice.

“Council thanks the community for their understanding whilst this popular facility was closed and looks forward to re-opening this important community resource,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“With Regional Victorian and New South Wales residents who live in the cross-border bubble able to travel at this time, the Gannawarra is an ideal place to visit.”

In line with State Government regulations, people visiting the centre will be asked to provide their contact details to assist with contract tracing and use hand sanitiser upon entry. Those inside these venues will also need to adhere to the 1.5-metre social distancing rule.

“Barriers will be in place to prevent visitors’ movements throughout the building, with staff members able to assist with the distribution of visitor information,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“As part of measures to ensure the safety of visitors and Council staff during the Coronavirus pandemic, the Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre will remain closed on weekends. However, Council looks forward to welcoming our dedicated volunteers back to assist with supporting this important facility when social distancing measures are relaxed.”
