Preparations for the 2022/23 season at the Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools are underway, with both facilities to open to the public at 3pm Monday, 14 November.
Gannawarra Shire Council, which manages both facilities, has spent the past few months getting ready for what is predicted to be a bumper season.
“Last summer both pools received a combined total of more than 25,000 visitors during the five-month season, with similar numbers predicted for the 2022/23 season,” Council’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“There will also be something on offer for all interests this season, including fun days, giant inflatable sessions, water aerobics classes and the popular early morning lap swimming program.”
The Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be open from 3pm to 7pm during November, with the traditional summer opening hours of 10am to 8pm coming into effect from Thursday, 1 December and be in place until Tuesday, 28 February 2023.
Operating hours will revert to 3pm to 7pm Wednesday, 1 March 2023, with the season to end at 7pm on Sunday, 12 March 2022.
“Residents are advised that the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be closed on days the Bureau of Meteorology website’s forecast temperature for either Cohuna or Kerang is 23 degrees Celsius or lower,” Mr Rollinson said.
“Any changes to opening times, including during instances of inclement weather, will publicised via Council’s Facebook page.”
Residents will soon be able to purchase season passes from the Cohuna and Kerang Customer Service Centres, or from either pool during the season.
“A season pass is a great way to save to get into your local pool, with the cost equating to what an adult pays for 23 visits during the season, or 16 visits for a concession or student,” Mr Rollinson said.
“Information regarding when season passes will be available prior to the opening of the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be promoted via Council’s Facebook page.”
