Preparations for the 2024/25 season at the Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools are underway, with both facilities to open to the public at 3pm Monday, 11 November.

Gannawarra Shire Council, which manages both facilities, has spent the past few months getting ready for what is predicted to be a bumper season.

“More than 30,000 visitors spent time at the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools during the five-month season last summer, and we are anticipating similar numbers again this season,” Council Acting Chief Executive Officer, Amanda Wilson said.

“Like with previous seasons, there will be something on offer for all interests between November and March, including fun days, giant inflatable sessions, water aerobics classes and the popular early morning lap swimming program, which begins at the start of December and will run to the end of February.”

As part of Council’s efforts to maximise service availability and staffing, new opening hour arrangements will be in place this season. These arrangements are:

  • Monday, 11 November to Saturday, 30 November: Open 3pm-7pm daily.
  • Sunday, 1 December to Friday, 20 December: Open 3pm-8pm weekdays and 10am-8pm weekends.
  • Saturday, 21 December to Friday, 31 January: Open 10am-8pm daily.
  • Saturday, 1 February to Friday, 28 February: Open 3pm-8pm weekdays and 10am-8pm weekends.
  • Saturday, 1 March to Monday, 10 March: Open 3pm-7pm daily.

Both swimming pools will also be open 12 noon-7pm on Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Australia Day and the Labour Day public holiday, but closed on Christmas Day.

“Residents are advised that the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be closed on days the Bureau of Meteorology website’s forecast temperature for either Cohuna or Kerang is 23 degrees Celsius or lower,” Ms Wilson said.

“Any changes to opening times, including during instances of inclement weather, will be publicised via Council’s Facebook page.”

Season passes are now available to purchase from the Cohuna and Kerang Customer Service Centres, or from either pool during the season.
