The Gannawarra Library Service will celebrate Harmony Week this March with two special Story Time sessions at Cohuna and Kerang.

Held in March each year, Harmony Week celebrates multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community.

“The Gannawarra Library Service is proud to be supporting Harmony Week once again with these special Story Time sessions,” Gannawarra Library Service Manager, Kerri Sidorow said.

“Harmony Week is all about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.”

Harmony Week Story Time sessions will be held at the Cohuna Library on Thursday, 12 March at 10.30am and Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on Thursday, 26 March at 11am.

“Each session, designed for pre-school aged children, will include international songs and tunes, a story celebrating a different culture and a take-away keepsake from the day,” Mrs Sidorow said.

“People attending the sessions are invited to bring along some morning tea to share, perhaps representing a culture that has special meaning to them.

“Residents can also support Harmony Week, occurring between March 15 and 21, by wearing orange to show their support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia.”
