Residents are encouraged to have their say on the document that outlines how Gannawarra Shire Council raises revenue to fund services and invests in infrastructure improvements.

Councillors moved a recommendation at the April 2025 meeting to seek community feedback regarding the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029, with feedback accepted up to 5pm Friday, 16 May.

“A requirement of the Local Government Act 2020, the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029 determines the most appropriate and affordable revenue and rating approach for Gannawarra Shire Council which, in conjunction with other income sources, will adequately finance the objective outlined in the current and future versions of the Gannawarra Shire Council Plan,” Mayor Garner Smith said.

The Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029 provides in-depth details regarding Council’s revenue sources, as well as how rates and charges are calculated and relevant policies that align with Council’s financial operations.

“It is important to note that the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029 does not set revenue targets for Council. The plan’s purpose is to outline the strategic framework and decisions that inform how Council will go about calculating and collecting its revenue,” Mayor Smith said.

Residents can provide feedback on the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029 before 5pm Friday, 16 May in the following ways:

  • By completing an online form, available by clicking on the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029 heading at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/yoursay.
  • By picking up a Have Your Say form from Council’s Customer Service Centres at Cohuna and Kerang and completing your form by the due date.
  • By emailing council@gsc.vic.gov.au.
  • By mailing Gannawarra Shire Council at PO Box 287, Kerang VIC 3579.

“All feedback received will assist with the development of the final version of Council’s Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029, which will be presented to Council for consideration at a later date,” Mayor Smith said.
