Young people living the Gannawarra Shire who contribute to their community are eligible to be awarded via a popular community awards program.
Gannawarra Shire Council and Northern District Community Health are running the Gannawarra Shire Young Person of the Month Awards for a second consecutive year.
Open to Gannawarra Shire residents aged 12-25 years, monthly winners will receive a certificate of recognition, a $50 voucher and an invitation to the Buloke Loddon Gannawarra Youth Awards.
“The Gannawarra Shire Young Person of the Month is a great way to recognise our young leaders and their achievements in their community, school or sport,” Mayor Charlie Gillingham said.
“Our young leaders are often the quiet achievers in our communities, but it is important that their efforts are recognised.”
Monthly winners will also be invited to apply for the 2024 Gannawarra Shire Council Young Citizen of the Year Award, with nominations for this prestigious award to open later in the year.
“Our 2023 Gannawarra Shire Council Young Citizen of the Year, Deaken Fawcett was recognised during last year’s program for his support to the Gannawarra’s creative community,” Mayor Gillingham said.
“I encourage anyone who knows a young person deserving of this honour to take the time to complete a nomination.”
