Help shape Koondrook's economic transformation

Residents are encouraged to complete a five-minute survey that will help shape the transformation of Koondrook’s economy.

Urban Enterprise is working with the community to develop the Koondrook Local Development Strategy, which will support the town’s transition from the dependence on the native forest timber industry and towards new and sustainable industries.

“The State Government provided Koondrook with $500,000 from its Community Development Fund earlier this year to assist with this transition process, and Council is pleased to be working with Urban Enterprise and a local advisory group to see this project come to fruition,” Gannawarra Shire Council Acting Chief Executive Officer, Amanda Wilson said.

As part of what is the first stage of the community engagement process, those who complete the survey will be able to:

  • Outline the strengths of Koondrook as a place to live, work and visit;
  • Identify main opportunities for local economic development;
  • List key issues and barriers for local economic development and growth; and
  • Highlight any specific projects, infrastructure and/or facilities that will contribute to a more diverse and innovative local economy.

“The results of this survey will help uncover specific issues and identify opportunities for the Koondrook area, which will ensure that projects and priorities that are considered for the strategy are championed by locals, and clearly reflects the views and values of the community,” Ms Wilson said.

Residents can complete the survey by visiting www.gsc.vic.gov.au/KoondrookLDS before 5pm Monday, 25 November.

Opportunities to complete the surveyor or to discuss your ideas with Urban Enterprise will also be available during community pop-up sessions occurring on the following dates:

  • Monday, 11 November (3pm-4.30pm): Outside Koondrook Primary School (Punt Road).
  • Wednesday, 13 November (9am-11am): Outside the Koondrook Post Office (corner Main and Thompson streets).
  • Monday, 18 November (2.30pm-6.30pm): Willow Park (corner Forest and Thompson streets).

“There will be many other opportunities for residents to contribute to the development of this important document, which Council will promote when these arrangements are confirmed,” Ms Wilson said.
