Increasing number of planning permit applications
Published on 26 July 2019
Gannawarra Shire Council has received more than 100 planning permit applications in a financial year for the first time since 2014/2015.
The State Government’s Planning Permit Activity Report for 2018/2019 revealed Council received 133 planning permit applications during the previous financial year.
This figure is 35 more than the total number of applications received in the 2017/2018 financial year and is the first time in four years application numbers exceeded 100.
The Planning Permit Activity Report also recognised Council’s efforts in reducing the median processing days it took responsible authorities to determine the outcome of planning permit applications, with the figure dropping from 51 days in 2017/2018 to 35 days last financial year.
“It is pleasing to see the number of planning permit applications have continued to increase in the past three years,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“These statistics recognise the work Council staff put in with applicants to ensure projects meet planning regulations.”
