Join Gannawarra Shire Children's Services Kindergarten Teacher team

Gannawarra Shire Council’s Children’s Services team is seeking people to join its Early Childhood Education Team, with a position opening up at the Gannawarra Shire Children’s Centre.
The Early Childhood Education Team is responsible for managing Council’s kindergarten programs at Cohuna, Kerang, Koondrook and Leitchville, with the program undergoing a significant period of change in the next 12-24 months.
“Being an Early Childhood Educator or Kindergarten Teacher is an exciting role, with Council able to offer flexible working arrangements and career growth opportunities,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“The early childhood sector will grow in the next five years, thanks to the rollout of the State Government’s Pre-Prep Program. This program will replace the current four-year-old kindergarten program with a structure that will see Council, by 2030, provide every four-year-old child up to 30-hours per week play-based learning for 40 weeks of the year.
“With this rollout to occur, now is the time to join our team and help support the development of the Gannawarra’s youngest residents.”
Applications are being accepted for a Kindergarten Teacher role at Kerang’s Gannawarra Shire Children’s Centre, which can be part time or full time, depending on the applicant, with negotiable hours ranging from 24 to 38 hours per week.
The successful applicant may also be eligible for the Department of Education location incentive of up to $21,000.
“It is important that this position is filled before August, which is when our staff numbers will drop due to people going on leave,” Mr Rollinson said.
“If we do not receive any applications or are able to fill this role, we will need to look at how we can maintain our current early childhood education programs for the remainder of the year.”
Applications are also being accepted for a permanent part-time (32 hours per week) Early Childhood Educator position and a casual Kindergarten Teacher role.
