Work to install a new jetty at the northern end of Kangaroo Lake will begin on Monday, 15 May.

Supported by the Victorian Fisheries Authority 2021-22 Recreational Fishing Grants Program, the Gannawarra Shire Council-managed project will see a new fixed jetty structure replace the previous jetty structure that was removed in April 2020 due to public safety concerns.

“Kangaroo Lake is a popular place for residents and visitors to enjoy the Gannawarra’s waterways, with the northern area boat ramp a key location for people to place vessels in the water,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

“This new ramp and jetty will complement rejuvenation work undertaken around the northern entrance to Kangaroo Lake in 2019, which has enabled greater vehicle access to this popular space.”

Visitors to Kangaroo Lake are advised that the boat ramp will be closed whilst these improvements are occurring, with details regarding when the ramp is reopened to be promoted via Gannawarra News, Gannawarra Connect, Council’s website and Facebook page.

The Gorton Point boat ramp, accessible via Gorton Drive, is still available for vessel access to Kangaroo Lake.

“Council thanks residents and visitors for their patience as these works occur, and looks forward to visitors being able to use this new structure later in the year,” Mr Rollinson said.
