Visitors to the northern end of Kangaroo Lake are benefiting from the recent installation of a new fixed jetty and associated works.

Supported by the Victorian Fisheries Authority 2021-22 Recreational Fishing Grants Program, the Gannawarra Shire Council-managed project involved installing a new fixed jetty structure that replaces the previous jetty structure that was removed in April 2020 due to public safety concerns.

“It is fantastic to see this new structure installed, which will enable residents and visitors to enjoy one of the Gannawarra’s largest waterways,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

“Work has occurred since May 2023 to install this new structure, with the adjoining boat ramp now reopen, enabling vessels to enter Kangaroo Lake from the northern end.”

The project also upgraded pedestrian access between the jetty and nearby amenities through the installation of a footpath and lighting.

“These works complement rejuvenation work undertaken around the northern entrance to Kangaroo Lake in 2019, which has led to greater use of this popular area of the municipality,” Mr Rollinson said.

“Council thanks residents and visitors for their patience as these works occurred, and looks forward to seeing the jetty used during our warmer months of the year.”
