The Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools will open for the 2019/20 season on Monday, 18 November 2019.
Both facilities, managed by Gannawarra Shire Council, will be open from 3pm to 7pm for November before converting to the traditional summer opening times of between 10am and 8pm as of Sunday, 1 December.
“The Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools are popular facilities for residents and visitors during the warmer months,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“The Kerang Swimming Pool saw over 29,000 visitors last season, with 13,523 people choosing to keep cool at the Cohuna Swimming Pool.
“Council is preparing for similar numbers again this season, with staff currently preparing for what is set to be a busy summer period at our aquatic facilities.”
General admission charges at both pools remain at $4.50 for adults, $3.50 for children aged four to 17 years and $3.00 for pensioners. Children aged three and under may enter for free. Family season tickets, which provide season long access to both the Kerang and Cohuna Swimming Pools, as well as Leitchville Swimming Pool, are available for $180.
Activities on offer at both venues - including waterslides, inflatable pool toys and the Kerang Splash Park – are free to use as part of the entry fee to each pool.
“Council is continuing to keep the entry admission costs for both of these pools as low as possible to ensure these venues are accessible and well used by the community during the hottest part of the year,” Mayor Learmonth said.
“Waterslides at each location will be operational from 3pm to 6pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for November, February and March, with the December and January operational times of 1pm-5pm, 5 days a week coming into effect on Sunday, 1 December.
“Families are reminded that children under the age of five, or those who are under 1.2 metres tall, must be accompanied by an adult when using the waterslides.”
As in previous years, a Weather Temperature Policy will be in place. Outdoor pools will be closed on days the Bureau of Meteorology website’s forecast temperature for either town is 21 degrees Celsius or lower. These closures, as well as changes to operating hours due to inclement weather, high winds or storm events, will be publicised via Council’s Facebook page.
Visitors can prepare for the coming pool season now by purchasing a season ticket from either the Cohuna or Kerang Customer Service Centres.
