Koondrook glass recycling collection point installed

Koondrook and district residents can now take their household glass bottles to Gannawarra Shire Council’s Koondrook Depot to recycle for free.
Following community feedback, a purple glass recycling skip bin was recently installed at the View Street site, which is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“Council is pleased to support Sustainability Victoria’s A Small Change Makes a Big Impact campaign, which encourages residents to take all household glass items, such as jam and sauce bottles, to their local transfer station for recycling, rather than placing these items in their yellow household recycling bin,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“All glass bottles and jars placed in this purple skip bin will increase the amount of glass recycled across the State and assist with the creation of new products such as roads and construction material.”
Residents are encouraged to take their household glass items to the skip bin for recycling, instead of placing these items in their yellow-lid household bins provided to each property in the municipality. Other items, such as cardboard and paper, can still be placed in the yellow-lid household bins for recycling.
“The installation of the purple glass skip bin at Koondrook brings the number of these facilities in the Gannawarra to five, with residents already embracing similar setups at the Cohuna, Kerang, Quambatook and Lalbert transfer stations,” Mr Rollinson said.
