Local dairy farmers are invited to a free evening of entertainment, occurring in Cohuna on Wednesday, 7 February.

Gannawarra Shire Council, Northern District Community Health, Agriculture Victoria, and Murray Dairy are partnering to host the Around the Paddock event, headlined by Kyabram-based leading rural mental health speaker, Warren Davies (pictured), also known as The Unbreakable Farmer.

“The Around the Paddock dinner event will provide an opportunity for our local dairy farmers to enjoy a night off the farm connecting with other dairy farmers,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

“Warren is renowned for his work in creating positive community connections and supporting mental health and wellbeing, and we are excited to be hosting this event.”

The Around the Paddock dinner will also include the launch of the Agricultural Victoria After the Flood podcast series, which features local farmers.

Matt Hawken, Regional Manager-Irrigation with Agriculture Victoria will host the dinner event, which will also feature live acoustic music, lucky door giveaways including the chance to win an Akubra hat, purchased from a local business.

“While the event is focused on dairy farmers, other local farmers who are interested in attending are welcome to do so,” Mr Rollinson said.

The event is supported by funding from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal Gardiner Dairy Foundation, Murray Primary Health Network, and the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments under the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) as part of the Gannawarra Community Flood Recovery Program.

Bookings are essential with tickets limited to 100. To book visit www.trybooking.com/COCCM or phone Council’s Flood Recovery Team on (03) 5450 9333.
