Gannawarra Shire residents and visitors have until the end of the month to use the Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools before both venues close for autumn and winter.

Both facilities will close their gates for the final time this season at 7pm on Tuesday, 31 March, weather permitting.

“Council is continuing to monitor the Coronavirus situation and is taking advice from Department of Health and Human Services, with both outdoor pools at this stage to remain operational until when the season ends on 31 March,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

“As a precautionary measure, our final pool events and activity at both the Kerang and Cohuna Swimming throughout March have been cancelled.

“As additional precautionary measures, we are continuing to clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces in the pool environment and frequently monitoring and testing pool water quality to ensure compliance with the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2019.”

Visitors to both facilities can also assist by:

  • Maintaining good hygiene practices, including frequent hand washing;
  • Taking pre-swim showers before entering the pool;
  • Not visiting either facility if feeling unwell; and
  • Not swimming if you currently have diarrhoea, or have had diarrhoea in the past 14 days.

“Council thanks the community for their support during the summer pool season and looks forward to another successful summer period when both facilities reopen in November 2020.”

The Kerang Exercise Pool, located in Patchell Plaza, will continue to operate, with opening hours and admission costs available to view online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/pools
