Works continue to progress as scheduled on the Kerang CBD Redevelopment project as focus moves to the third section of the Victoria Street intersection from Monday, August 16, 2021, on the corner of Scoresby and Victoria Street, near the Kerang Choice Cut butcher’s shop.

As the next section of Scoresby Street is completed the roadway will remain open to motorists for use, however, Council advises drivers to be aware of the 40-kilometre speed limit in place.

Some car parking adjacent to the works area will be affected and unavailable for use. However, motorists will be able to use parking on the opposite side of the road on Victoria Street and Scoresby Street. For pedestrians, diversions will be in place around the works to ensure their safety.

“Gannawarra Shire Council thanks motorists and pedestrians for their patience as these works are completed,” said Chief Executive Officer Tom O’Reilly.

“These works will upgrade pavers, remove tripping hazards and cracks in the concrete, and provide a new pedestrian ramp for easier use by prams and wheelchairs.”

The project plans to improve access for pedestrians and add to the further beautification of the area as part of the second stage of the Kerang CBD Redevelopment, funded by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

All businesses along the Scoresby street corner will remain open during construction, and customers will still be able to access the building. Where disruptions are likely to occur individual consultations with businesses will be conducted, mitigating any interruptions as the new section of works occur.

“Collaboration with the community is key to the success of this project,” said Mr. O'Reilly

“The Council sees these works, which have been designed through extensive feedback and community consultation, as one step closer to reviving the Kerang CBD into a central hub for residents and travelers to explore, socialize and connect with."
