Nineteen local projects will share in more than $65,000 of funding thanks to the Gannawarra Shire Council Community Grants Program.
Council approved the successful projects that would benefit from this popular program’s Community Support stream at its November 2023 Meeting, with the decision following on from the awarding of funding to six events via the program’s Community Event stream.
“Since its development, the annual Community Grants program has become a popular funding opportunity for local community groups to ensure their events or projects occur,” Mayor Ross Stanton said.
“Council was inundated with applications for this year’s program, with funding provided to initiatives that align with the Growing Gannawarra – 2021-2025 Council Plan and other strategies.”
Five projects, including facility refurbishments and work to recognise local history, received the maximum contribution of $5,000, with the program also supporting proposed events, equipment purchases, security upgrades and community campaigns.
“Council thanks all groups that submitted a request for funding, and looks forward to seeing the projects that have received funding come to fruition,” Mayor Stanton said.
