Recognising Gannawarra's great residents
Published on 12 October 2020
Do you know a great Gannawarra Shire resident? If so, why not consider recognising them as part of Gannawarra Shire Council’s 2021 Australia Day Awards, with nominations for this popular program now open.
Presented annually as part of Australia Day celebrations, the awards recognise the contribution residents make to their communities.
“There are many residents throughout the Gannawarra who devote their time to make their community a better place for all,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“Previous winners have all demonstrated a commitment to the groups and organisations they are a part of. The 2020 Citizen of the Year, Leo Parker has served his community for more than 40 years, whilst the Young Citizen of the Year, Mitchell Gross is well regarded in Quambatook for helping out in the community when needed.”
Nominations are sought for the following award categories:
• Citizen of the Year; and
• Young Citizen of the Year (for residents aged 15-24 years of age on Tuesday, 26 January 2021).
“I encourage residents to nominate their community’s quiet achievers for these prestigious accolades,” Mr O’Reilly said.
Nomination forms are available online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/Australia_Day_Awards, with award winners to be announced during Australia Day celebrations throughout the Gannawarra.
Nominations close at 9am on Monday, 30 November 2020.
