Renowned Australian fictional author, Darry Fraser will add another chapter to her growing relationship with the Gannawarra Library Service later this month.

In what will be her first visit to the Cohuna Library for the service’s Author Talks program, Ms Fraser will speak about her new book, The Night on the Darling River during a session occurring on Thursday, 30 January at 2pm.

“It is a pleasure to welcome Darry back to the Gannawarra, as she has developed a strong following thanks to her previous visits,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

“Darry’s collection is one of our popular selections by Gannawarra Library Service members, and this month’s visit will book out quickly.”

The visit coincides with the launch of Ms Fraser’s 15th book, The Night on the Darling River. Set in 1894 amid the rising flood waters of the Murray River and shearers’ strike violence, the book focuses on Tess Hawthorn’s efforts to reclaim her future.

“Darry is renowned for weaving tales of historical adventure set against the rich backdrop of Australian history, with the Murray River providing the scene for many of her books,” Mr Rollinson said.

Places for this special event are limited. To book your spot or for more information, please phone the Gannawarra Library Service on (03) 5452 1546 or (03) 5456 2124.
