School holiday library fun at home
Published on 21 September 2020
Families will be able to experience the fun and excitement of Gannawarra Library Service’s school holiday program from home this September.
Following the success of a remotely-run program in June and July, the library service team have developed a range of activities that children of all ages can access from Monday, 21 September.
“It is important that children continue to have the opportunity to experience the joy our library service’s school holiday program provides, especially at the moment,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“Whether it is using craft to make amazing creations or learning about science via online program, families can share in the fun at this time.”
Children will again be able to let their imagination run wild with colourful maize noodle take-home family packs, as well as individual pirate and butterfly magnet kits to choose from.
These KITS4KIDS are available from any Gannawarra Library Service branch, with pick-up arrangements to be made by phoning the Cohuna branch on (03) 5452 2124 between 9.30am and 5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, or Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on (03) 5452 1546 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
In addition, the Gannawarra Library Service is excited to offer an online workshop facilitated by twistED Science.
Promising to be “loud, smoky and spectacular”, AIRtastic! is filled with bubbly, blustery science tricks that will take your breath away.
This pre-recorded clip will be available to interact with for 48 hours from 9.30am Wednesday, 30 September or for an assigned number of views.
“The twistED Science presenter will show how to bring paper to life and, make things go boom” Mr O’Reilly said.
To register your interest to view the AIRtastic! show, please phone (03) 5452 1546 or (03) 5456 2124 by Friday, 25 September.
