Gannawarra Shire Council’s popular Social Meals program will resume this month, with events to be held in nine towns and districts.

The program was postponed in late March 2020 as part of efforts to protect the community from COVID-19.

“Council is pleased to be resuming the Social Meals program, which is a great way for people to stay socially connected in  our smaller communities,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Held at least once a month at Cohuna, Kerang, Koondrook, Lalbert, Lake Charm, Leitchville, Macorna, Murrabit and Quambatook, attendees are able to socialise and enjoy a home-cooked two-course meal for just $10.”

The program will resume on 4 February at Leitchville, with the program for the first half of the year available online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/events and in the March/April 2021 edition of Gannawarra Connect, which is to be distributed to all households in the Gannawarra in mid-March.

“Attendees are asked to adhere to all COVIDsafe measures in place. These include providing contact details upon arrival and socially distancing, where possible,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“Council thanks the support of all Senior and Recreational Clubs across the Shire who partner with us each month to host this popular program.”
