Social Meals program set for 2020

Gannawarra Shire Council has released its Social Meals program for 2020, with events to be held in nine towns and districts from late January.
Developed earlier this decade, the program expanded to Macorna in March 2019, ensuring residents in each district of the Gannawarra are able to experience the fun and frivolity of sessions.
“The Social Meals are a great way to keep people socially connected within smaller communities. They give you the opportunity to sit back and relax, while enjoying a home-cooked two-course meal for just $10,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“Council is pleased to be hosting 124 sessions in 2020, beginning with Quambatook’s first session of the year on Tuesday, 21 January and ending with Cohuna’s monthly gathering on Friday, 18 December.”
Social Meal sessions are held at least once a month at locations in Cohuna, Kerang, Koondrook, Lalbert, Lake Charm, Leitchville, Macorna, Murrabit and Quambatook.
“Many of those who attend the meals promote its positive effect on their mental health and wellbeing as they provide the opportunity to socialise and make new friends while enjoying a laugh,” Mayor Learmonth said.
“Council thanks the support of all Senior and Recreational Clubs across the Shire who partner with us each month to bring these meals to life.
“It’s what our community is all about, working together to continuously build a Gannawarra for All.”
