Spike the dog to excite these school holidays
Published on 21 June 2023
The story of a dog who went from living at the Lost Dogs Home to becoming a surfing champion will excite families these school holidays.
The Gannawarra Library Service is hosting a special Author Talks session with Robert Lorenzon and his dog, Spike at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on Monday, 3 July from 2pm.
“The Gannawarra Library Service is renowned for its Author Talks series, with this session to cater for families with Robert and Spike’s inspiring story,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
The session will focus on Spike Surfs, which explores Spike’s journey from being found by Mr Lorenzon at the Lost Dogs Home to winning the Best Wave Award at the 2018 Australian Dog Surfing Championship – a highlight of the annual Noosa Festival of Surfing.
“The relationship between Rob and Spike is inspiring, and shows how hope and devotion can blossom when the chemistry is right,” Mr Rollinson said.
“Places for this special event will fill fast, so families are encouraged to book their spot as soon as possible.”
For bookings and more information, please phone the Gannawarra Library Service on (03) 5452 1546.
This special Author Talks session is made possible thanks to Gannawarra Shire Council’s Creative Outreach Program.
