The Gannawarra to celebrate the 2023 Victorian Seniors Festival
Published on 12 September 2023
Events will occur throughout the Gannawarra this October thanks to the 2023 Victoria Seniors Festival.
Now in its 41st year, the festival focuses on providing fun and good times for Victorians over the age of 60, with free or low-cost events to occur across the state.
“Council is proud to again be hosting numerous events during the festival, which recognises the important role our senior residents have made to make the Gannawarra a great place to live,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“Like previous years, the 2023 program features events that will bring people together to socialise or learn new skills.”
Major local events occurring throughout October include:
- Morning Tea sessions on Thursday, 5 October from 10.30am at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library, and Monday, 16 October from 11am at the Cohuna Library;
- The Kerang and District Family History Group’s Ollie Said book launch, occurring on Friday, 6 October from 2pm at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library;
- An Author Talk session featuring leading Australian crime fiction novelist, Chris Hammer, occurring on Tuesday, 10 October from 2pm at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library; and
- Events marking National Children’s Week, enabling grandparents and grandchildren to socialise.
“Dates for Council’s popular Social Meals program also feature as part of the program, with all who attend these sessions to receive a free self-care pack,” Mr Rollinson said.
