Construction of The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra – Gannawarra Shire Council’s newest community meeting and creative space – has started.

To be incorporated into the Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library, work will occur during the next 4-6 weeks to connect utilities to the site and pour the building’s concrete foundations.

“The start of on-site works marks a major milestone for this project, which will create a regionally unique space this area needs,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra will be able to accommodate events and workshops that require meeting spaces larger than what is currently available in the municipality, with the building to incorporate technology for modern meetings, conferences and training sessions.

The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra will also support the Gannawarra Library Service to plan and deliver a broader range of programs for young people such as movie making, sound and music recording.”

Access to the Sir John Gorton Library’s meeting rooms and exhibition space will be reduced whilst construction occurs, with any changes to accessing these sites to be promoted via Council’s website and Facebook page, as well as the Gannawarra Library Service’s Facebook page.

The $3.07 million The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra project is supported by $1.5 million from the State Government’s Living Libraries Infrastructure Program and $718,000 from the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
