Visitors to Gannawarra Shire Council’s website will be able to watch a livestream of Council Meetings from Wednesday, 15 July.

With an increasing number of people watching Council Meeting proceedings since the live recording of these meetings began in April, Council has implemented improvements to ensure residents who may not be confident operating Facebook can also watch the livestream.

“Council continues to operate in accordance with the COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) Act 2020, which puts in place numerous measures to ensure local government decision-making can continue during the coronavirus pandemic,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

“During this period, which is in place until 1 November 2020, Council Meetings will be closed to the public, with livestreaming provided as an option to watch these proceedings occur live.”

As part of these changes, residents wanting to view Council Meetings from the July Council Meeting onwards will be able to watch a livestream online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/livestream

Videos from previous Meetings of Council, as well as future videos produced via this new setup, can be viewed at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/meetings

“It has been pleasing to see the number of people watching proceedings live increase each meeting, and hopefully these improvements will provide more residents the option to participate in Council Meetings,” Mayor Learmonth said.

“Council looks forward to reopening Council Meetings to the public at a later date.”
