Council Plans
Council must prepare and adopt a Council Plan for a period of at least the next 4 financial years after a general election in accordance with its deliberative engagement practices (Local Government Act 2020).
This Council Plan also includes the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan that identifies goals and strategies based on evidence for creating a local community in which people can achieve maximum health and wellbeing.
A Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan is a requirement of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.
Community input
During January and February 2021, Council staff and Councillors went out and listened, spoke and consulted with our community.
The consultation process was focused on four key questions that were utilised to create conversations with the community. These were developed into a flyer which can be viewed here(PDF, 3MB) .
The four questions were:
1. What do you like most about where you live?
2. What do you feel are the current challenges in your community?
3. What services do you value most and what do you or your community need that you currently don’t have access to?
4. What do you see as a focus for the Gannawarra over the next 15 years?
What we heard and the outcomes of our conversations have been summarised into a Community Engagement Summary Report which can be viewed by clicking here(PDF, 1MB).
How we achieve the Council Plan's goals
Each year Council produces an annual Action Plan that outlines actions that are to be completed to ensure Council is achieving the goals listed in the Council Plan.
