Residents were encouraged during November and December 2024 to have their say on the future of three Gannawarra Shire Council-owned properties at Quambatook and the Kerang Saleyards site.
Following the adoption of a recommendation at the September 2024 Council meeting, Council sought residents' views on the future of these sites:
- Three residential units located at 9-11 Guthrie Street, Quambatook.
- A vacant block at 2 Patterson Street, Quambatook.
- The Quambatook Senior Citizens Hall.
- The Kerang Saleyards.

Three residential units located at 9-11 Guthrie Street, Quambatook
Originally managed by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, Council acquired this site to supplement the home/community-based services offered by its Community Care Services team
Council's recommendation was to transfer ownership of this property to a private vendor via an open market process, subject to feedback received during the community engagement period.
A vacant block at 2 Patterson Street, Quambatook
This 1400-square-metre vacant block of land has a limited acquisition history, and has no linkages to Council's current services.
Council's recommendation was to sell this property via an open market process, subject to feedback received during the community engagement period.
Quambatook Senior Citizens Hall
The Quambatook Senior Citizens Hall has reached its end of life and is no longer used by the Quambatook Senior Citizens Club.
Council's recommendation was to transfer ownership to a new owner via an open market process, subject to feedback received during the community engagement period.
Kerang Saleyards
The Kerang Saleyards has not held sheep sales on-site since 2008 and cattle sales on-site since 2019.
Council's recommendation was to investigate further options for site's future, including redevelopment opportunities. Any proposals that Council is supportive of will be presented to the community for feedback.
